Fonts

As we are now much further on with our bottle design, we have started to consider font choices for our logo and brand name. We want a font that is really going to stand out on the shelf amongst the other water brands and this is something we have been trying to achieve throughout the design process. We chose to use a carton/box and the colour green for this same reason and therefore we want to continue to design something that will be unique and eye catching and that would hopefully draw customers to it.

We have looked into the fonts used by other current water brands to get an idea of what is successful and to ensure that ours stands out for the all right reasons.

Some of these bottled water brand examples use serif fonts that are quite rigid and sharp such as 'Aquafina' and 'Highland Spring' however, some use a much more playful sans serif font such as 'Volvic'. At the moment, we are unsure as to which type of font we think would suit our brand 'Eden' the most so we will look into testing 'Eden' written in a variety of fonts to try and narrow our choices down.

Out of curiosity, we wanted to see which water bottle brand is best and most popular.
It was difficult to find a clear answer as to which brand sells the most, however, this report by FoxNews.com listed their 'top 10 bottled waters' with Evian at the top. Therefore when choosing a font, we could take into consideration the design and font of Evian as this could be a popular font with consumers.

We went onto a font website to preview a wide variety of fonts and test how 'Eden' looked written in them in order to narrow down our options and give us a clearer direction of what sort of font we wanted as we were unsure.

We decided that we wanted a font that was slightly less harsh than some of the sharp fonts used for  brands like Highland Spring etc. As we started to take into account the font choices for our brand, we used some of the softer, more playful fonts to see how they would look.

Here are a few examples of the fonts chosen as we discussed we want something thats less harsh on the front of the bottle.
