Types of Water

So far, we have been only roughly designing the front of our box, however as we are now beginning to think in more detail about the design, we need to consider what will be on the box alongside the name. To do this, we need to clarify what type of water we will be selling.

Types of Water
  • Spring water
  • Mineral water
  • Purified water
  • Artesian water/artesian well water
  • Natural water
  • Sparkling water
  • Carbonated water
  • Distilled water
  • Tap water

We hadn't realise there were so many different types of water and therefore, we've had to do a lot further research to ensure that we correctly name our water brand.
We narrowed down the options by obviously ruling out tap water as well as sparkling or carbonated as well as any purified or distilled water as we want our water to be a still, natural water that still has all of the natural minerals in that are good for you as we want our water to be healthy.

Mineral water
  • Contains no less than 250 parts per million total dissolved solids
  • Distinguished by other bottled waters by its constant level and relative proportions of minerals
  • No minerals can be added
  • Naturally occurring minerals found in the water are considered to be good for health and digestion
Spring water
  • Derived from an underground formation in which water flows naturally to the earth's surface
  • Collected only at the spring
  • If collected through the use of an external source, (such as a pump) the water must remain with the same composition and quality of when it flows naturally to the earths surface.

We have decided that our water will either be a spring or mineral water so now we will research further into the River Eden and where our water will be coming from so we can make a choice on which our water will be.

Despite much extensive research, we have been unable to find any more information regarding the type of water found in the River Eden and whether the water would classify as Spring or Mineral water. We cannot class it as Spring water as we don't fully know where we would be getting the water from and whether we would be able to access it at the spring. We are also unsure about the mineral level within the water and therefore cannot class it as Mineral Water. This is particularly unfortunate as we were hoping for our water brand to be as realistic as possible. As we want to be as truthful as possible, we will call our water 'Natural Water' as opposed to Spring or Mineral, as Natural water can be either of the two.

For our initial design, we want to have a still water as opposed to a sparkling water and therefore our water will be titled as 'Eden Natural Spring Water'. However, if we choose to extend our brand then we will look into creating an 'Eden Natural Sparkling Water' and a design to accompany it.
